Help Save Persecuted Christians

Overview

Persecuted Christians have faced genocide and were forced to flee their homes. The Knights of Columbus responded with the Christian Refugee Relief Fund, which has provided humanitarian assistance, primarily in Iraq, Syria and the surrounding region.

Councils can help aid this cause by collaborating with their parishes, sharing information about the Order’s work for those who have suffered for their faith and raising money to help these Christians and those in their care.

A number of resources are available on this webpage to support councils in their efforts to raise awareness for our persecuted brothers and sisters, especially in the Middle East.

You can find more about the Order’s efforts to aid persecuted Christians, as well as make a donation, at www.ChristiansAtRisk.org.

Action Steps

There are several steps your council can take to organize a successful persecuted Christian awareness and fundraising campaign:

  1. Make sure you have all relevant print materials (including posters, brochures and prayer cards). If you do not, you can download and print them from the Support Materials section of this webpage.
  2. Distribute brochures and prayer cards following Mass or other events, with your pastor’s permission.
  3. Hold a fundraiser for the Knights of Columbus Christian Refugee Relief Fund.
  4. Display posters at your parish, with your pastor’s permission.
  5. Make an announcement from the pulpit or place an announcement in the bulletin, with your pastor’s permission. Sample pulpit and bulletin announcements can be found under the Sample Announcements section of this webpage.
