In Honor of the Order's Founder
Friday, Aug. 14, will mark the 125th anniversary of the death of Father Michael McGivney, founder of the Knights of Columbus and candidate for sainthood. To commemorate this milestone, the Order’s Supreme Chaplain, Archbishop William Lori of Baltimore, will celebrate that day’s Noon Mass at St. Mary’s Church (5 Hillhouse Avenue, New Haven), where Father McGivney founded the Knights in 1882 and where his body is now entombed. Attendees will receive a special Father McGivney commemorative medallion.
The Knights of Columbus Museum (1 State Street, New Haven) will offer special tours highlighting Father McGivney on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (Aug. 14-16) at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. daily.
