Supporting Special Olympics
The Knights of Columbus’ legacy of serving others has long extended to the support of people with intellectual and physical disabilities.
In serving the athletes, the Knights themselves are privileged. As their work gives testament to the intrinsic worth and dignity of every human being, they, in turn, are reminded of the strength of those facing adversity and the true sense of God’s love.
This coming summer, this tradition of support will continue into the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Los Angeles. The Knights of Columbus has pledged $1.4 million to cover the expenses of all Special Olympic athletes from the United States and Canada. In response to this new commitment, they have been named a “Founding Champion of the World Games.”
