Can councils/assemblies make changes to By-Laws Online?
The goal of By-Laws Online is to have all councils and assemblies have a consistent set of By-Laws approved by the Supreme Advocate’s Office. With this, changes cannot be made in the Standard Template or the Adobe PDF file that is generated when View Document is clicked.
Many times the council or assembly changes can actually be considered as a policy of the council or assembly, and addendum's are not necessary. For example, the council or assembly has a reduced rate for a select group of members (students, military, etc.). This would be considered a policy of the council, and the need to have this noted in the By-Laws is not necessary.
Why are prior approved By-Laws not on the By-Laws History screen?
The By-Laws History screen only reflects By-Laws that have been submitted for approval and approved using the By-Laws Online application.
The council / assembly may consider adding the recent version of their By-Laws in the By-Laws Online application, so that at least one set of By-Laws are noted in the By-Laws History screen.
Note: If you enter name of the member that served as the Grand Knight or Faithful Navigator at the time these By-Laws were approved, on the By-Laws History screen, the name of the member in the current position will display as the individual that submitted these for approval.
