If you are a chaplain at one of our councils we encourage you to take advantage of our new feature to signup for e-mail delivery of the Chaplain’s Report prepared by Supreme Chaplain Bishop William Lori. You will receive a monthly e-mail with a link to the newsletter as soon as it is available.

The Chaplain’s Report is a monthly publication to assist council chaplains in preparing for the council meeting. Various pieces of information will be given in the Report to support the chaplain in explaining matters pertaining to Catholic faith and Catholic life.

For 60 years the Knights of Columbus has brought the teachings of the Catholic Church to millions through easy-to-read booklets published by the Catholic Information Service. New titles are being added to our catalog regularly, all aimed at helping you understand more completely the richness of the Catholic faith and Catholic life.

Podcasting the Kingdom

CIS has produced  podcasts of the Luke E. Hart booklets. These podcasts offer the opportunity to listen to Catholic teaching on the computer and the mp3 player. In 2008, CIS will be hosting the Spanish podcasts of the Hart booklets.

Podcasting the Kingdom

Podcasts of the Luke E. Hart Series booklets (based on the Catechism ) and the Veritas Series are now able to be heard on your computer or downloaded to your mp3 player. You can subscribe to these free podcasts for your PC or Mac computer. By subscribing to our RSS feeds through an RSS reader, you’ll receive a summary of our new content as soon as we post it. An RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed is a regularly updated summary of Web content, along with links to full versions of that content.

NEW CIS Booklets

Understanding Stem Cell Research

Dominican Father Nicanor Austriaco authored Understanding Stem Cell Research: Controversy and Promise (#326) in which he clearly presents the controversial yet optimistic topic of stem cell research. The objective of this booklet is to outline the reasons for hope and promise in the stem cell research and the reasons of great concern, indeed, the immorality of human embryonic stem cell research. Father Austriaco expounds on why the Church is not opposed to all forms of stem cell research but is opposed to human embryonic stem research because it "attacks and undermines the dignity of the human person…." This booklet is intelligent, accessible and well-worth the time to read in order to clearly understand a significant moral question of our era.

What Catholics Should Know About Islam

Dr. Sandra T. Keating authored What Catholics Should Know About Islam (#317). The purpose of this booklet is to give non-Muslims a basic overview of the origins of the religion of Islam and its early history, as well as some of the central beliefs and practices of Muslims. In addition, several recent statements made by the Roman Catholic Church concerning its relationship to Muslims are presented here. This pamphlet makes no attempt to cover every aspect of Islamic beliefs, or of Catholic doctrine on other religions. Rather, it is intended to be an introduction to what every Catholic should know about Islam in order to more fully live Church teaching and to understand events occurring in the world today.
