The Order’s “Surge…with Service” program encourages Knights to respond to the needs of their local parish, their communities, their council, their families, and young people.
Last fraternal year 1,749 councils conducted at least 20 service program activities (four each in the categories of Church, Community, Council, Family and Youth) to earn the Order's Columbian Award.
Described in this section are the International Service Award winners for 2006-07, the top service programs conducted under each “Surge…with Service” category.
The winning programs were chosen from entries judged the best in their respective jurisdictions. Reports of all state council winners were submitted to the Supreme Council office for judging. The grand knights and wives from the first-place councils attended the convention as guests of the Order’s Board of Directors. Second- and third-place finishers in each category received appropriate recognition from the Supreme Council.
