Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson - Cardinal Bertone Speaks about Father McGivney
This morning´s opening Mass was beautiful. Led by the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, and concelebrated by nearly one hundred other bishops and almost as many priests, it was truly a remarkable experience.
Cardinal Bertone´s homily is one that I think is very inspiring as we celebrate our 125th anniversary. In his homily, Cardinal Bertone called Father McGivney "a holy parish priest," and said: "Everyone who had the privilege of knowing Father McGivney was impressed by the dynamism of his personality and his pastoral zeal. He guided the organization he founded with prudence and wisdom, firmly trusting in Christ. "
The Cardinal told us that because of Father McGivney´s great example: "The Congregation for the Causes of Saints, as you know, is currently studying the life of this Servant of God, with a view to recognizing his sanctity and presenting him to the faithful as a model Christian, worthy of imitation."
Cardinal Bertone also encouraged us to live out our faith in the example of Father McGivney, saying: "May your founder´s faith and courage serve as an inspiration to all of you as you devote yourselves to the pursuit of your own apostolate."
As we hold our convention this year on the theme of saying "Yes" to Christ, let us all work to devote ourselves even more to our Order´s first principle and most important apostolate, charity.

After being glued to EWTN practically the whole day I must say I have "discovered" the Knights of Columbus. Amazing, such men of stature and accomplishment. And Father McGivney who suffered and it bore such good fruit, truly Christ-like. And your Supreme Knight Carl Anderson, I hung on his every word, twice. What a leader.
I'm an 80 yr old widow, but I delight to know about the Knights, their devotion to Christ and His Church and their works.

Thank You for all you do for the membership. This showing will be of the most impressive highlights of the convention. I personnally attended the Washington and Boston Conventions and we had a wonderful time. I look forward to watching all the recording live from Nashville, Tenn.,on EWTN Television Service each day.
Thank you and have a very successful 125th Annual Supreme Convention.

I am writing from the island of Malta, a 90 % catholic island, known as the island of St. Paul (AD60).
I would like to congratulate you andsupport your initiatives for peace in the world.
God is love, Deus Caritas est. May God bless you in this convention.
I do not know if there is a reps in Malta. If there is nobody, I like to represent your Knights of Columbus in Malta. Who knows, may be in future, your organization may organize a tour
to Malta of your members.
Once again, congratulations for the 125th Anniversary Convention.
Yours sincerely

Congratulations on your Anniversary and thanks for the great work you are and have been doing in the Church. I am a Zambian Religious in a Diocesan Congregation. I watched your program on EWTN on your 125th Anniversary. I head about what you are doing to promote vocations to priesthood in various parts of the world. Though you never mentioned Africa, I would like to find out if it can be possible to assist seminarians and those in formation to Religious life in an African seminary and Novitiate respectively, where financial support is so urgently needed if vocations have to survive in our diocese.

Thank You Worthy Supreme Knight. Where would we be without love for our neighbor? We would be without Christ for one thing. By teaching us love for our neighbor, Father McGivney pointed the way to Christ.
We as Knights need to keep that light burning everyday.

I found Cardinal Bertone´s comment on how Fr. Michael J. McGivney made sure that Catholics weren´t left isolated, as an important point. In the past Fr. McGivney gathered Irish Catholics who were being persecuted. These and other immigrants were proselytized to, so that they would leave their Catholic faith, with expectations of better jobs and opportunities and associates.
Today we see the like practices with Mexican Catholics. Other Christian churches are offering assistance, aid and acceptance, some with the intent of leading them away from their Catholic roots.
Christ prayed from the cross let them be one. Let´s get today´s immigrants in our Councils and make them feel welcomed!
