Districts #2, #21 and #32 participated in a corporate Communion at St. Augustine Church. Knights from several area assemblies provided an honor guard for the event. Also in attendance were state officers, field agents and district deputies.
Martin H. Carmody Council 389 in Grand Rapids made and sold apple and cherry pies at its parish. Sales amounted to about $400, which was added to the council's Refund Support Vocations Program (RSVP) fund.
Father John R. Day Council 2659 in Howell set up a pro-life cross display in front of its council hall. The display was kept in place for two weeks leading up to Mother's Day.
Holy Cross Council 2739 in Detroit held its 44th annual sisters and clergy appreciation night. Eighty-nine sisters and priests enjoyed a full meal and several games of bingo. Each person in attendance also received a gift and a raffle ticket for other prizes.
Msgr. John Eppenbrock Council 3615 in Trenton has been able to support five seminarians by sponsoring pancake breakfasts at two of the parishes it serves. The breakfasts raised nearly $1,600 to support the men as they discern a possible vocation to the priesthood.
St. Francis Council 4401 in Farmington Hills raised $5,700 during its annual fund drive for people with intellectual disabilities. The funds were distributed among four special needs organizations.
Dr. Thomas A. Dooley Council 5492 in Livonia assumed sponsorship of the St. Colette blood drive. Over the past year, Knights have collected 429 units of viable blood.
Bishop Sheen Council 7487 in Jenison built a wheelchair ramp for a parishioner who suffered a stroke and can no longer walk. The council designed the ramp and donated all materials necessary for its construction.
St. Mary, Star of the Sea Council 9301 in Jackson held a blood drive in honor of Carson Clark, a young man with blood problems. The drive netted 108 pints of viable blood.
