Reviewing the events of the past year highlighted impressed upon me once again that our Order is an important and integral part of the life of the Church and the nations where we exist. I am honored to have represented you at so many historic events this past year.

We have turned the calendar page to a new year, however. That means that all we accomplished in 2005 becomes the foundation for the things we will achieve in 2006. While last year may have been a year like no other in terms of Church and world history — the passing of a pope, the election of his successor, natural disasters, etc. — 2006 can also be a year like no other for our Order.

There are so many exciting ventures under way in the Knights. We are growing every day, introducing more men and their families to Columbianism, reaching out to more of our neighbors in need, but doing so while staying true to the vision of our founder, the Servant of God Father Michael J. McGivney.

It is his guidance from eternity that helps ensure our continued success. If Parish Priest, the new biography of Father McGivney, makes one thing clear, it is that our founder believed unquestioningly in the ability of Catholic lay men to build a better world. As his Knights, we should never doubt that we are making a difference. As his Knights, we should never hesitate to extend our fraternity to every eligible Catholic man we know so they too can make a difference.

What happened in 2005, and in all the years since 1882, has laid the groundwork for this new year.

Columbianism continues to be the “experience of a lifetime” because it offers a lifetime — or even just a year — of unparalleled experiences.

Vivat Jesus!
