Catholic Information Service

For 60 years the Knights of Columbus has brought the teachings of the Catholic Church to millions through easy-to-read booklets published by the Catholic Information Service. New titles are being added to our catalog regularly, all aimed at helping you understand more completely the richness of the Catholic faith and Catholic life.

CIS—On the Move

Catholic Information Service has always provided you with handy, reliable—and attractively packaged—resources to help you and your loved ones grow in the knowledge and practice of our Catholic faith.  Beginning in January 2009, however, you will notice a slight change at CIS.  Due to the rising cost of paper, production and postage, we must change our pricing structure.  The last time we did so was over a decade ago.  While still drastically below the actual cost of producing our high quality resources, and still offering discounts for bulk purchases, CIS must increase its fees.  The new prices are:  1-99 booklets--$1.00 each; 100-200 booklets--.90 each; 201-500--.80 each; over 500--.75 each.

Podcasting the Kingdom

Podcasts of the Luke E. Hart Series booklets (based on the Catechism ) and the Veritas Series are now able to be heard on your computer or downloaded to your mp3 player. You can subscribe to these free podcasts for your PC or Mac computer. By subscribing to our RSS feeds through an RSS reader, you’ll receive a summary of our new content as soon as we post it. An RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed is a regularly updated summary of Web content, along with links to full versions of that content.

New Resources On-Line in Spanish

The Catholic Information Service (CIS) is happy to announce that the entire Luke E. Hart Series and some of the Veritas Series booklets are now available online in  Spanish. The Hart Series offers 30 booklets which explore the Catholic teaching as found in the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The Veritas booklets explore various matters pertaining to Catholic faith and Catholic life. As new booklets become available in Spanish they will be added to the CIS webpage. To read the booklets online please visit Luke E. Hart Series  and the Veritas Series.

NEW CIS BOOKLETS

The Gift of Woman

By Dr. Maria Fedoryka (PhD from the International Academy of Philosophy in Liechtenstein), this booklet provides a theological reflection on womanhood and what Pope John Paul II called the “feminine genius.” Dr. Fedoryka also addresses the vocation of all women to nurturing love and provides some practical suggestions for addressing the challenges modern women face.

St. Joseph: Our Father in Faith

By Father Frederick L. Miller, (STD in Systematic Theology from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas, Rome), this booklet provides an introduction to what has been traditionally called Josephology. Fr. Miller considers the Scriptural testimony to St. Joseph as the “man of faith” and “the just man,” as well as exploring Pope John Paul II’s 1989 apostolic exhortation on St. Joseph, Guardian of the Redeemer. From these Fr. Miller draws important considerations for the role of St. Joseph in our own lives of faith.
