All Saints Council 11402
The members of All Saints Council 11402 in Dunwoody, Ga., accepted the challenge to “Embrace the Adventure of Fatherhood.”
They did this by participating in an eight-week seminar, during which they discussed and learned about such topics as “Loving Our Wives All Our Lives,” “Turning Our Hearts Toward Our Children,” and “Protecting Our Families.” Information from the Order’s “Fathers for Good” Web site helped guide the choices of books and videos to use in the program.
The council publicized the seminar series in its parish’s bulletin and adult education department course curriculum booklet.
The seminars were conducted on eight Sundays from September to November. At the conclusion, an “enthronement” ceremony was held in which each participant was presented with a portrait of the Sacred Heart, which were then placed in prominent positions within the participants’ homes.
The seminar series was so well received that a second series on effective communication between husbands and wives was conducted from March through May of this year.
Also, four non-member parishioners who participated in the seminars ultimately joined the Order as a result of their participation.
