130th Supreme Convention


WHEREAS, His Excellency Archbishop Henry J. Mansell will celebrate two major milestones this year, marking the 20th anniversary of his appointment as an Auxiliary Bishop of New York on November 24th and the 50th anniversary of his ordination to the Sacred Priesthood on December 19th; and

WHEREAS, since December 2003, Archbishop Mansell has served as Ordinary of the Archdiocese of Hartford, Connecticut – which includes the City of New Haven, the birthplace of the Order and headquarters of the Supreme Council – and has always been a great supporter and friend to the Order in matters great and small; and

WHEREAS, the Cause for Canonization of Venerable Michael McGivney has moved forward with the constant support, encouragement and hard work of Archbishop Mansell, who has devoted his own energies and those of his staff to the many details of promoting the Cause; and

WHEREAS, Archbishop Mansell has been an active member of the Knights of Columbus for more than 45 years, serving as Connecticut State Chaplain and currently belonging to Cathedral of St. Joseph Council 11405 in Hartford, Connecticut, and St. Maximilian Kolbe Assembly in Buffalo; and

WHEREAS, Archbishop Mansell has so many times given of his time to be with his brother Knights, especially at many supreme conventions, during which his participation has been a great encouragement and honor.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Knights of Columbus Board of Directors assembled in Anaheim, California, on August 2, 4 and 6, 2012, extends heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Archbishop Mansell as he celebrates significant milestones in his service to the Church; and

FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Knights of Columbus expresses gratitude for the unwavering support Archbishop Mansell has given to the Cause of Venerable Michael McGivney; and

FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution be included in the proceedings of this meeting and that a bound copy be prepared for presentation to His Excellency as a tangible memento of the Order’s high esteem.
