RESOLUTION HONORING
FORMER DEPUTY SUPREME KNIGHT
DENNIS A. SAVOIE
ON HIS APPOINTMENT AS
AMBASSADOR OF CANADA TO THE HOLY SEE

WHEREAS, Dennis A. Savoie, Former Deputy Supreme Knight and Past State Deputy of New Brunswick, distinguished himself as a fraternal leader throughout his four decades of service to the Order; and

WHEREAS, throughout his tenure as Deputy Supreme Knight, Brother Savoie’s responsibilities included serving as the Supreme Council’s primary liaison to the leadership and membership of the Order in Canada; and

WHEREAS, Brother Savoie has been a stalwart advocate of the Church’s teachings, particularly through his involvement in and support of the Catholic Organization for Life and Family (COLF), a joint project of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Knights of Columbus; and

WHEREAS, Dennis, his wife Claudette and their family have upheld and promoted the Christian vocation of marriage as committed Catholics living lives of faith in the public square in the authentic spirit of the lay apostolate as expressed by St. John Paul II; and

WHEREAS, Prime Minister Stephen Harper, recognizing his lifetime of devoted service to the Catholic Church and dedication to his beloved homeland of Canada, appointed Dennis A. Savoie as Ambassador of Canada to the Holy See on August 1, 2014; therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, that Board of Directors of the Order of the Knights of Columbus, assembled in Orlando, Florida, on August 2, 2014, expresses heartfelt and prayerful best wishes to our esteemed brother Knight Dennis A. Savoie as he prepares to undertake this new and important chapter in his life of service to the Church and his country.
