Danny Garcia, Juan Benjamin and Jerome Villarreal of St. John the Baptist Council 10232 in Madison look on as Joyce Fecteau passes out right-to-life signs during a 40 Days for Life campaign outside the Alabama Woman's Center. Knights from throughout the Diocese of Birmingham participated in the campaign by praying the rosary and witnessing to life outside of area abortion facilities.

Members of Msgr. Patrick F. Horan Assembly in Fort Smith and Father Anthony J. Lachowsky Assembly in Conway install a new sprinkler system in the inner court of Subiaco Abbey. Knights volunteered to dig trenches in the court before laying new PVC pipe for the system.

Karl A. Christ Jr. Council 12778 in Heber Springs hosted a chili supper at St. Albert Church that raised more than $600. The funds were used to provide a Refund Support Vocations Program (RSVP) scholarship to seminarian Robert Cigainero.

Tony and Lyndal Rogers of Father Abbot Raphael Desalvo Council 14619 in Scranton cut planks of wood while building a pavilion to cover the RV of a local man. When Knights discovered that a local man with intellectual disabilities was living in a burned-out motor home, Knights set to work renovating the RV and building a pavilion to cover the van from the elements. The council volunteered more than 500 hours to the project to ensure that the man had an adequate place to live.

Representatives from councils from throughout northern Kentucky met with Bishop Roger J. Foys of Covington to present donations for the diocese's 17 seminarians. Each seminarian received a $500 grant from the Knights to use as they pursue their studies for the priesthood. Bishop Foys is a member of Kehoe Council 1764 in Ludlow.

St. Edward Council 13196 in Cynthiana hosted a drive to benefit the Christian Appalachian Project (CAP). Knights collected food, clothing and financial donations to help those less fortunate living in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky.

Members of Mount Mercy Council 14604 in Peewee Valley erect a pro-life cross display at St. Aloysius Church to commemorate the lives lost each day to abortion. Knights helped plant 3,200 white crosses on the church grounds.

Msgr. Tjebbe Bekema Council 12060 in Thibodaux hosted a jambalaya dinner to raise money for its charitable fund. The council also sponsored a pro-life rosary on the Knights of Columbus Day of the Unborn.

Mary, Queen of Peace Council 12072 in Mandeville donated a new electric wheelchair and batteries to retired New Orleans Police officer Leo Bowen. Bowen lost most of his freedom and mobility when the wheelchair broke down.

Alex Semel Council 12989 in Lacombe hosted a priestly vocations dinner attended by Archbishop Gregory M. Aymond of New Orleans, Archdiocesan Vocation Director Steve Bruno, six priests, seven seminarians, two men in discernment and six altar servers. Money raised from the event was donated to provide grants to seminarians, to support archdiocesan vocations programs, and to help area young people attend a summer youth conference. Archbishop Aymond is a member of St. Mary Cathedral Council 14055 in Austin, Texas.

Fourth Degree Knights from throughout the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston participated in the Houston St. Patrick's Day Parade March 12.

Father Emil Kapaun Assembly and Joseph M. Walla Circle 2738, both in Katy, marched in the Katy Rodeo Day Parade Feb. 26.

Eucharistic Adoration Assembly in Houston presented Knights of Columbus chalices to three transitional deacons from the Czech Republic. The three deacons will be ordained to the priesthood in mid-2011.

St. Martin Council 2623 in Kingsville donated $1,800 to the Kingsville Independent School District Special Olympics to use at future events and to purchase a banner. The council also obtained 50 track uniforms and travel bags for Special Olympics athletes, and duffel bags and t-shirts for all Special Olympics coaches.

Our Lady of the Gulf Council 3253 and Our Lady of the Gulf Circle 5333, both in Port Lavaca, teamed up for their quarterly highway clean-up event. Knights and Squires removed trash and debris from the road in front of the council's meeting hall.

Father Nemec Council 3793 in Wallis donated $10,000 toward the construction of a 40-foot memorial cross at the entrance to the newly expanded Guardian Angel Church Cemetery. The council also hosted its annual wild game supper in honor of local clergy and law enforcement personnel. The event raised $4,000 to provide scholarships to area high school graduates.

As part of a "Food for Families" event, St. Isidore Council 10186 in Buckholts donated about 200 pounds of canned goods to the St. Vincent de Paul thrift store.

Mary, Queen of Heaven Council 12253 in Malakoff hosted a Lenten fish fry March 11 to raise funds for charity. More than 250 people attended the event, which netted $2,100.

St. John the Evangelist Council 13255 in Marble Falls served catfish to parishioners and members of the community during its six fish fries during Lent. Proceeds from the events were added to the council's charitable fund.

Local teenagers and members of Ascension Council 14943 in Bastrop bag carrots at the Bastrop County Emergency Food Pantry & Support Center for distribution to needy families. The council and its ladies' auxiliary teamed with volunteers to bag fresh produce for the pantry's bi-monthly distribution. In total, 195 families received assistance.
