Dan Vanyo of Holy Cross Council 7904 in Mesa was ordained to the diaconate Oct. 15 as the penultimate step on his path to the priesthood. Vanyo is supported financially by Council 7904 and by Father Juan de Padilla Assembly.

Robert E. Rooney Assembly in Oakland provided an honor guard for the 80th anniversary celebration of St. Margaret Mary Church. The event included a gala and dinner to coincide with a visit from Bishop Salvatore J. Cordileone of Oakland, as well as the dedication of several new monuments at the church.

Father Felix Penna Assembly in Whittier and Christopher Columbus Assembly in Covina provided an honor guard during the National Anthem at a football game between Bishop Amat High School and Bishop Alemany High School.

Oakland Council 784, along with an honor guard from Robert E. Rooney Assembly and Eugenio Pacelli Assembly in Hayward, helped Father Jose Arong mark his birthday and his 45th ordination anniversary during a special Mass and celebration at Sacred Heart Church.

Fourth Degree Knights look on as Special Olympics Athlete Jack Hansen receives a U.S. flag for the new Special Olympics Idaho Athlete Training Center. At the request of Special Olympics, seven Fourth Degree assemblies from southwest Idaho donated $650 to purchase a flagpole for the facility, which serves as the organization's new headquarters and as a state-of-the-art training facility.

Father Gregorio Crisostomo Assembly in Calumpit worked at the Bulacan provincial disaster management center to package relief goods for the victims of recent typhoons that submerged the towns of Hagonoy and Paombong and inundated the homes and businesses of many citizens, including several Knights of Columbus. Unable to cross the raging waters to bring relief to their brothers, assembly members repackaged goods for distribution.

Past Grand Knight Bonifacio R. Isidro Assembly in San Rafael provided an honor guard for a procession marking the feast of St. Rafael Sept. 29. Members of St. John of God Council 8754 provided additional crowd control during the event, which also included a novena Mass.

Benigno S. Aquino Jr. Assembly in Tarlac City provided an honor guard for the procession of a traveling image of Our Lady of Manaoag when the image visited San Sebastian Village.

Fourth Degree Assemblies from throughout the Diocese of Baltimore conducted a drive to collect bottles of water, potato chips, cookies and candy for Operation Welcome Home, a program that greets soldiers returning from overseas deployments. Knights collected 2,240 bottles of water and more than 900 snacks.

Escanaba Council 640 purchased a Ten Commandments monument for placement at Holy Family Church in Gladstone. Escanaba Assembly provided an honor guard for the monument's dedication, which was presided over by Bishop Alexander K. Sample of Marquette.

Members of Father Patrick McAlpine Council 9094 in Biloxi and C. Mark Landry Assembly in D'Iberville tack a new sign onto a wooden billboard while erecting a pro-life display at Sacred Heart Church. Knights erected a pro-life cross display and two signs at the church that read "Abortion is always the wrong choice" and "Motherhood … don't miss it!"

America Assembly in Jersey City provided an honor guard at Our Lady of Victories Church for the celebration of the feast of Our Lady of Peñafrancia, Patroness of Bicolandia.

St. Mary Council 4065 and John Paul II Assembly, both in Fishkill, along with the council's ladies' auxiliary, donated $400 each to the four parishes that they serve. The funds will offset the cost of new sacramentaries that incorporate the upcoming changes to the Roman Missal in English.

Father Vincent Capodanno Assembly in North Ridgeville hosted a program at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky to present new military service caps to residents there. At the request of veterans at the home, Knights purchased 60 baseball caps with the emblems of various branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. Knights then presented the caps to each veteran, along with thank-you notes.

Father Adrian Sharkey Assembly in Roseburg provided an honor guard for a Mass celebrating the 30th ordination anniversary of Father Paneer Selvam.

St. Jérôme Council 1892 and its ladies' auxiliary serve breakfast at their parish once a month for seven months out of the year. Knights and their wives serve about 400-500 meals at each event, and the breakfasts last year raised $7,200 for the council and its parish.

Sept mois de l'année, le conseil St. Jérôme 1892 et les filles d'Isabelle servent le déjeuner à la paroisse. Les Chevaliers et leurs femmes servent entre 400 et 500 déjeuners et grâce à ces déjeuners, l'année dernière on a réuni 7200$ pour le conseil et sa paroisse.

San Miguel Assembly in Myrtle Beach raised more than $6,000 to send 12 World War II veterans on a Honor Flight trip to Washington, D.C. Honor Flight is an organization that transports surviving veterans of World War II to see the National World War II Memorial. The trips include complimentary flights to and from the national's capital for veterans who otherwise may not be able to visit the memorial in their lifetime.

Father Frederick H. Suggs Council 6892 in Columbia hosted an educational program in conjunction with a scheduled visit of one of the Order's traveling images of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Bishop England Assembly provided an honor guard for the event. The council also sponsored an Oktoberfest family festival that included food, games, and information on the council and its activities.
