Santa Maria Council 4999 in West Palm Beach hosted its 25th annual clergy appreciation dinner April 24, honoring area priests, religious and deacons. At the event, Knights presented Bishop Gerald M. Barbarito of Palm Beach with $5,000 to support the diocese's 10 seminarians and $1,000 for St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary.
Palatka Council 5758 raised more than $1,800 for Special Olympics during the council's annual fund drive for people with intellectual disabilities.
Barney Gonyea Council 7109 in Safety Harbor sponsored an Easter egg hunt for 140 children from Espiritu Santo Church. The event included an egg hunt by age group, Easter-themed arts and crafts, games and a Bible story. The council also hosted a Mother's Day breakfast at its church. Knights served 200 guests, with a portion of the proceeds from the event donated to the Kimberly Home Pregnancy Resource Center in Clearwater.
Infant of Prague Council 10513 in Chipley donated $5,000 to the West Florida Pregnancy and Family Center in Bonifay.
Three members of St. William Council 10757 in Naples participated in the statewide Run for Life, a project of the Florida State Council. Though the council had raised $1,500 for the run in 2011, the Knights set a goal of raising $10,000 in 2012. With the help of generous donors, the three Knights — one of whom is 70 years old — ran their promised number of miles and raised $10,525 for area pro-life groups.
St. Malachy Council 13355 in Tamarac presented $500 Refund Support Vocations Program (RSVP) scholarships to four seminarians.
St. Paul the First Hermit Council 14222 in Summerfield held its annual golf tournament to raise money for the Hospice of Marion County. The event, which included a barbecue and trophy ceremony, netted $8,000.
