Queen of the Rosary of Lady Lake Assembly in Oxford provided an honor guard for Bishop John G. Noonan of Orlando when he celebrated Mass at St. Vincent de Paul Church.

Santa Maria Council 4999 in West Palm Beach donated $5,000 to the new St. Mary Church in Pahokee. The church, which was dedicated Sept. 8, is of Spanish design and will serve the farming and migrant community.

Prince of Peace Council 8791 in Ormond Beach raised $4,725 during its annual fund drive for people with intellectual disabilities. The funds were distributed to a charity and five local schools serving people with special needs.

San Marcelino Champagnat Council 10055 in Miami hosted a pizza lunch for veterans at the Miami VA Health Care System's Day Activity Center. Knights served pizzas, soft drinks and ice cream to 40 veterans, many of whom receive one hot meal a day through the facility. The council also contributed funds to the Brother Rafael Martin Scholarship Fund at Christopher Columbus High School.

St. Thomas Aquinas Council 11497 in New Port Richey served hamburgers and hot dogs to more than 200 students attending vacation Bible school at St. Thomas Aquinas Church.

Members of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Council 13209 in Spring Hill collected donations before and after all the Masses at their parish on Aug. 11 and 12 to benefit the Global Wheelchair Mission. Knights collected nearly $5,500 to purchase low-cost, durable wheelchairs for people with disabilities around the world.

During Knights of Columbus Family Week, Blessed John XXIII Council 14390 in Miramar offered Mass for the 160th birthday of Venerable Michael McGivney. Archbishop Ambrose De Paoli Assembly in Weston provided an honor guard for the event, with council members serving refreshments following Mass.

Members of McGonagle Council 12321 in Griffin work with volunteers from Habitat for Humanity, Square Foot Ministries and the Oak Hill Baptist Church to replace the roof at The Caring House, a pregnancy resource center. When Knight John P. Devlin realized that the facility needed a new roof, he mustered his council and other volunteers and contractors to get the work done at a fraction of the cost.

Father O'Byrne Council 3574 in Jacksonville donated $450 worth of school supplies to the Onslow County Department of Education.

San Juan Bautista Council 1543 in San Juan celebrated a Blue Mass in honor of area first responders. The council also participated in Ocean Conservancy's International Coastal Cleanup Campaign. Knights and their families spent two hours cleaning 250 pounds of garbage from the San Juan coastline.

Caballeros y sus familias pasaron dos horas recogiendo unas 250 libras de desperdicios del litoral marítimo de San Juan.

St. Anne Oratory Council 6756 in Rock Hill hosted a day of prayer for peace on Sept. 11. The program included the choir from St. Anne Church and speakers who talked about the contributions of first responders.

Father James J. Scanlon Council 6396 in Highland Springs donated 35 pairs of children's shoes to Commonwealth Catholic Charities. The shoes, in turn, will be given to needy families and their children.

St. Mary of Sorrows Council 8600 in Fairfax Station, along with members of the Serra Club, provided a picnic lunch for 25 diocesan seminarians, their families and 22 priests following a Mass of thanksgiving celebrated by Bishop Paul S. Loverde of Arlington. The picnic is the only diocesan event specifically for the families of the seminarians.

St. Rita of Cascia Council 15244 in Alexandria, in conjunction with parents and teachers, remodeled the teachers' lounge at St. Rita's School. Knights and other volunteers repainted the room, installed new bookshelves and created a kitchen area complete with storage space and appliances.
