Pope John Paul II Assembly in Des Moines provided an honor guard for the ordination Mass of Ken Halbur Jr. and George Komo. Father Dan Clarke Council 13109 in Altoona provided financial support to both men while they were studying for the priesthood.

Loras Council 532 in Davenport hosted its annual fund drive for people with intellectual disabilities, Aug. 13-16. Knights collected more than $42,000 for the Handicapped Development Center and for several other charities.

Sacred Heart Council 9632 in West Des Moines sponsors a K of C chorus that performs at Mass and at several civic events each year.

St. Patrick Council 13394 in Corning held a benefit luncheon to defray the medical costs of two local cancer patients. The event raised more than $14,200, which was divided evenly between both recipients.

Patrick Slattery, Henry Slattery and Travis Close of Rev. Philip J. Allen Circle 5265 in Wichita pull weeds from the peace garden at Dear Neighbor Ministries. Squires spent the day cleaning the grounds of the facility, which is operated by the Sisters of St. Joseph.

Bishop Joseph F. Busch Council 4863 in Sauk Centre hosted its annual golf outing for priests, deacons and seminarians from the Diocese of St. Cloud. Attendees enjoyed lunch, unlimited golf, dinner and prizes.

Queen of Peace Council 5296 in Elk River held a blood drive at St. Andrew Church, July 12, that collected 60 units of viable blood for the Memorial Blood Center. Twenty-six of the donors were first-time participants.

Father Don Carey Assembly in Cuba held a benefit barbecue to raise funds for a flag and flagpole for a local high school's newly refurbished athletic field.

St. Louis Council 453 hosted a bowling and pizza party for the altar servers of St. Mary Magdalene Church. During Sunday Mass, the council also presented each server with a certificate of appreciation.

Wahoo Council 1833 entered a float in the Saunders County Fair Parade, July 30.

St. Isaac Jogues Council 11312 in Lincoln presented a certificate of appreciation to Steve Zoucha, vice president of the Lincoln Stars, for the team's support and assistance at two council events. Team members assisted at a council-sponsored blood drive, and Zoucha has been instrumental in organizing "Knights Night with the Stars" — a council outing to a Stars hockey game. Knights also cleaned at the metal chairs at their parish hall at the request of their pastor. Council members washed every chair and replaced them on their storage racks.

At the request of Knight Pat Kelly, Our Lady of Lourdes Council 13080 in Omaha hosted a clothing drive for Holy Family parish. Knights collected a van full of clothes for needy members of the community.

St. Agnes Council 10328 in Vermillion treated 23 parish altar servers to an afternoon at the Wet & Wild Water Park in Sioux Falls. Knights also provided transportation and a pizza lunch.
