Youth & Young Adults

“We will use our resources of time, talent and money to strengthen parish-based and parish-sponsored programs. One important area where this will occur is youth-based parish ministry. Perhaps more than at any other time, our youth are in need of greater evangelization, catechesis and pastoral care.”

—Supreme Knight Carl Anderson

Pope Francis is calling for a greater alliance between the Church and the family, drawing from St. John Paul II’s teaching that the laity are largely responsible for the future of the Church.

This alliance will only become a reality if families can find greater support within their local parish. The Knights of Columbus play a critical role in helping parishes offer this support to families, particularly in its service to youth.

Knights of Columbus councils sponsor and lead a variety of youth activities to engage young people in the life of our Catholic parishes. In developing and maintaining these activities, Knights of Columbus councils should be sure that they assist the overall goals of parish youth ministry programs.
