2nd and 3rd Degree Exemplification Held in Rome, Italy
On January 19, 2013, a special Exemplification was held for 34, 1st and 2nd Degree Knights, many of which were Seminarians, Deacons and 2 Priest attending the Pontifical North American College (PNAC) in Rome, Italy. Due to their tight schedules and studies, it is very difficult for them to progress in the Order while attending the PNAC. However, Grand Knight George Piette from San Gennaro Council 14853, Naples, Italy, and Deacon John Norman from PNAC arranged for this special event to take place in order to advance these Brother Knights to the 3rd Degree. District Deputy Gary Gnidziejko and Conferring Officer Thomas Shaver, both from Germany traveled to Rome to execute this special event. Participation was open to all Knights in the European Theater so members from England, Naples and Sigonella took part.
Many of the Seminarians, Deacons and the Priest take time out of their busy schedules to travel to Naples and other parts of Italy on weekends to help with the Masses, CCD and RCIA Classes held at the military bases, therefore, it was only fitting for San Gennaro Council to show their appreciation and provide these men the opportunity to progress in their Knighthood.
During the Exemplification, other Seminarians and Deacons volunteered time to provide a tour of Rome for the spouses of those Knights that traveled to Rome from Naples and Sigonella as well as providing a tour of Saint Peter’s Basilica for all the Knights and their spouses after the Exemplification was completed.
