Appreciation Dinner to Honor Priests Supporting US Military Catholic Communities
The Father Emil J. Kapaun Council #11987, in Ramstein, Germany, hosted a Priest Appreciation Dinner on Sep 27, 2013. The dinner was held at the Dorint Hotel in Kaiserslautern, Germany for all US Military and civilian Catholic Priests in the region that support US Military Catholic Communities. The guest of honor was Bishop F. Richard Spencer, an Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of the Military Services and the Episcopal Vicar for Europe and Asia. Worthy Treasurer, SK Tom Shaver, spoke on the importance of priests to our communities and our responsibilities as laity and Knights to assist them in their roles. Bishop Spencer thanked the Knights of Columbus for their service to our priests and conveyed Archbishop Broglio's best wishes for our Military Catholic Communities here in Rheinland-Pflaz, Germany. Nine priests were honored for their service by members of the Catholic communities in the region. Grand Knight Patrick Patton, his wife Madaline, and twenty-five other Knights and their families, attended the event and the Color Corps provided a saber team to honor each priest as he entered and was escorted to his seat.
