2011 Knights of Columbus VAVS Male Volunteer of the Year
The Knights of Columbus is proud to announce Thomas W. Dupree, Jr., the KofC VAVS Representative at the VA Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina, as the 2011 Knights of Columbus Male Volunteer of the Year.
As VAVS Representative at Durham VAMC for the past two years, Thomas Dupree has dramatically improved the Order’s volunteer presence at the center. Dupree's dedication, hard work, and leadership resulted in an increase in the number of Regularly Scheduled (RS) KofC Volunteers from 23 to 48 over the past year, and over $21,000 in cash and non-cash donations since March, 2011 in support of VAMC, particularly the recreational therapy programs. These efforts include sponsorship of two Veterans for the National Wheelchair Games each of the past three years, and most notably this year a significant donation of over 100 new winter coats
