It highlights Fathers for Good, the Order’s online initiative offering resources to Catholic husbands and fathers, and includes an interview about a new book, co-written by the supreme knight, exploring Pope John Paul II’s “theology of the body.” Also featured is an article about the national summit on volunteerism in New York City, which was sponsored by the Knights.

In light of the golden jubilee of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., the March 2009 issue of Columbia recalls the long-standing tradition of support given to the shrine by the Knights of Columbus. Also featured is an article about the life and ministry of Archbishop Kazimierz Majdanski, who witnessed profound lessons of faith as a prisoner in the Dachau concentration camp during World War II.

In light of the Jan. 22 anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade, the January 2009 issue of Columbia features a series of articles about defending the sanctity of human life. It highlights a few of the many ways in which Knights are working tirelessly to build a culture of life, from assisting pregnant women in need to giving a voice to the voiceless in the public square. Plus, Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson discusses the essential role of the laity in renewing and evangelizing the secularized culture.

Also featured are the results of a new poll, commissioned by the Knights, which reveal that most American’s disagree with the central finding of Roe v. Wade.
