More than 2,000 Knights and family members gathered in Quebec City, Que., Aug. 5-7 for the 126th Supreme Convention. The October issue of Columbia captures the events of the meeting and features the complete text of the supreme knight’s annual report.

From Oct. 5-26, the world’s bishops will gather in Rome with Pope Benedict XVI for a synod on the theme "The Word of God in the Life and Mission of the Church." Columbia joins the Church in preparing for the synod with a series of special reports on the richness and relevance of sacred Scripture. Also featured in the September issue: Go ‘Down Under’ with the college Knights who represented the Order at World Youth Day in Sydney, Australia.

Like the Church, the Knights of Columbus draws its strength from the Eucharist, the source and summit of our faith and the model for our acts of Christian charity. In the August issue of Columbia, relive the 49th International Eucharistic Congress in Quebec last June, in which the Knights played an important part. We also highlight some unique examples of K of C charity and celebrate the 20th anniversary of Pope John Paul II’s landmark document on women.

Columbia follows up on the groundbreaking conference on men and abortion co-sponsored by the Knights of Columbus last fall with a special report on the topic. Read an interview with Vincent M. Rue, Ph.D., one of the first to provide evidence of post-abortion trauma in men. Columbia wraps up the Order’s 125th anniversary with a special issue celebrating the highlights and historic events from the past year. A special six-part article by author and popular historian Kevin Coyne examines how the Knights of Columbus has taken direction from and responded to the concerns of the Holy Father, from Leo XIII to Benedict XVI. Filled with historic photos from our founding to today, the March Columbia is both a keepsake issue and a valuable tool in spreading the word about the Knights of Columbus.

Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson sits down for an interview with Columbia’s editors about his new book, A Civilization of Love: What Every Catholic Can Do to Transform the World (HarperOne), scheduled for publication March 25. Also, Catholics have several opportunities in 2008 to celebrate the faith, from the 150th Jubilee of Our Lady’s appearances at Lourdes to World Youth Day next summer in Australia.
