A Super Character Building Event
As preparations were underway for the biggest football game of the year, one of the greatest NFL players of all time visited students from at a Houston inner-city Catholic school to shine the light on the character- and community-building aspects of sports.
NFL Hall of Famer Anthony Muñoz led a character camp sponsored by the Knights of Columbus for approximately 150 children, grades 3-8, along with their parents and grandparents at the JP McGovern Sports Recreational Center on Jan. 31.
The event began with the participating children running though some football skills outside, and then listening to a talk by Muñoz on the important role that integrity and faith have played in his life and his career in the NFL. Muñoz’ son, former college All-American player Michael Muñoz, also talked with the children.
Muñoz has been a longtime collaborator of the Knights of Columbus, working especially with their sports division and Special Olympics projects. During the past several years, his organization, the Anthony Muñoz Foundation, and the Knights of Columbus have worked together on various charitable initiatives.
