Resolution No. 349
Amending Section 120 of the Laws of the Order
WHEREAS, Section 120 of the Laws of the Knights of Columbus precludes the sale of the Order’s insurance products to members who have not completed the First Degree ceremonial; and
WHEREAS, the Order’s new online ceremonial enables men to be initiated into the Knights of Columbus as Associate Members; and
WHEREAS, members who have been initiated into Order through the online ceremonial are full members of the Knights of Columbus; and
WHEREAS, members who have been initiated into the Order as Associate Members through the online ceremonial should be entitled to purchase the Order’s insurance products, regardless of whether they have completed the First Degree ceremonial,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that in order to provide all Knights of Columbus members with the opportunity to purchase the Order’s insurance products, Section 120 be amended as follows:
"No candidate elected to the Order in any subordinate council shall have any claim against the order of the Knights of Columbus or any subordinate council of the same, unless as a member of the Order and the payment of all fees due at the time of said initiation has been made. This section shall not apply to any liability the Order may assume under the terms of a binding receipt issued to such candidate on the form and in the manner approved by the Board of Directors."
