of Tombs for the Unborn

WHEREAS, each human life deserves to be respected, cherished and protected from the moment of conception on; and
WHEREAS, every direct abortion is the destruction of an innocent unborn human life – the life of a human individual who is a member of the human family; and
WHEREAS, the innocent unborn who are killed by abortion are the Holy Innocents of our time, and their killing is a new Slaughter of the Innocents; and
WHEREAS, Knights of Columbus stand in the forefront of those groups and individuals committed to the cause of the unborn; now therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Knights of Columbus, acting upon the welcome suggestion of His Eminence John Cardinal O’Connor of New York, urge state councils in consultation with the local Ordinary to establish and maintain in at least one Catholic cemetery in every diocese in which the Order is represented, a permanent Tomb to the Unborn; and
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Knights of Columbus, shall do all in their power to see to it that these monuments give eloquent, lasting testimony to the unique sanctity and dignity of each unborn human life, to their own determination to continue to work in defense of the unborn, and to their firm faith that, through the gracious mercy of God, our unborn brothers and sisters who have been killed by abortion will one day participate in the resurrection of the dead and the eternal life of heaven.
