ROSARY PROGRAM
Brother Knight and promoter of the Rosary, Father Patrick Peyton, CSC, famously said "the family that prays together stays together." The Rosary is a particularly powerful prayer, not only for Knights but for their entire family. By offering opportunities for families to pray the Rosary together, Knights provide an example of the strong prayer life that is so necessary to face the difficulties families face in the modern world. Use the Knights' Scriptural Rosary for Families booklet to strengthen the prayer experience further. To learn more about leading a Rosary program at your parish, visit kofc.org/rosary.
MASS FOR PEOPLE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
The Mass for People with Special Needs program is not just about hosting a special Mass once per year. At its core, the program is meant to ensure people with disabilities have access to parish life and the sacraments. COVID restrictions have made it especially difficult for the elderly and immunocompromised to visit the parish and attend Mass. Councils can step into this breach by helping their pastors find new ways to make the sacraments more accessible, for example, by offering to make home visits to distribute the Eucharist or creating an outdoor space for confessions. Reach out to your pastor and see what you can do to help. For more information on this program, visit kofc.org/mpsn.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, Christian organization founded in 1976 that seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness one family at a time. The organization helps provide quality-built, affordable homes to needy families by cooperatively involving the future homeowners with the community volunteers and suppliers to build the home. Since its founding, Habitat has helped more than 29 million people improve their housing conditions in 1,400 communities in over 70 countries worldwide. FAMILY WEEK
As Summer quickly approaches, now is the time to prepare for your Family Week with fun, communal, and spiritual activities. This past year has been difficult on communities of faith, and Family Week is a perfect way to bring people together in faith and community and joyfully welcome families back to parish life. Your Family Week may look different this year as you navigate social distancing restrictions, but it will be worth the extra effort to strengthen families through community. As you plan, see what other Faith in Action programs you can run in conjunction with your Family Week. For more info on this program, visit here.
