    SUPREME COUNCIL OFFICE

The Knights of Columbus international headquarters is located in New Haven, Connecticut. Led by the Supreme Knight, the chief executive officer of the Knights, the office provides administrative support and leadership for our more than 15,900 local units.

    JURISDICTIONS

The Supreme Council has more than 75 state council organizations to help guide regional activities that are consistent with the principles of the Order.

    DISTRICTS

Each state council is divided into districts - groupings of several local councils.

    LOCAL COUNCILS

Local councils are the basic unit of the Knights. Most are based in parishes, though some have their own council hall within a community. Each local council works to assist with the needs of its community consistent with the principles of the Order. A Knights of Columbus council can work wonders; in fact, with its many programs, it can help change the community, town, city or neighborhood in which you live. However, a successful Knights of Columbus program depends on people taking the initial idea, modifying it to suit specific situations and local needs, then implementing the program in the way it works.

Each local council evaluates the needs of their community and implements those programs and activities that are most needed in their area. The Knights of Columbus Faith in Action Programs are designed to engage the council members in various activities across a host of categories.

    INSURANCE AGENTS

Every council is assigned a certified insurance agent, who is a Knight, and whose job it is to provide our top-rated products focused on the financial needs of members’ families.

    FOURTH DEGREE ASSEMBLIES

For most men who follow Jesus, there comes a time when duty extends beyond our own lives, beyond how we lead our families, and into how we serve our fellow man. That’s what the Knights of Columbus is all about. The Patriotic Degree allows knights to take this one step further. “Sir Knight” is more than a title. It’s an honor.

    COLUMBIAN CIRCLES

Founded on August 4, 1925 with the institution of Duluth Circle 1 in Duluth, MN, the Columbian Squires program strives to provide “the spiritual, cultural, civic, social and physical improvement of its members, and the development of their leadership qualities,” (section II, Article II of the “Laws and Rules of the Columbian Squires”).

    MILITARY COUNCILS

Throughout most of its 134-year history, the Knights of Columbus has provided active support to members of the armed forces and their families. View the slide show to see some recent examples of the K of C outreach to the military – active members and veterans.

For over one hundred years, the Knights of Columbus college councils program has promoted the moral, intellectual and spiritual development of college men on campuses throughout the world. Today, there are over 200 college councils in the United States with over 340 councils worldwide. Through their commitment to the Columbian principles of charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism, college Knights continue to honor the legacy of the Venerable Father Michael J. McGivney.
