WHEREAS, at its annual convention in 2022, the Supreme Council adopted Resolution No. 318, which amended Sections 109, 164, and 217 of the Laws of the Order regarding various issues related to the disposition of an application for membership in the Order; and
WHEREAS, the reason for these amendments was to update the statutory text to reflect current practices with respect to the disposition of an application for membership; and
WHEREAS, additional amendments are required in order to harmonize the Laws of the Knights of Columbus with current practices.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Section 108, which stipulates the appointment of an Admission Committee, be repealed; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the following Sections be amended as follows:
SEC. 109 – Disposition of Application
Unless theThe applicationis rejected for the reason stated in Section 108, itshall be read by the Grand Knight at thefirstnext monthly council meetingfollowing the time allowed for the report of the Admission Committee, and the council shall proceed forthwith to ballot for the admission of such applicant after said reading.
SEC. 114 – Rejection – Effect of
An applicant rejected by the Admission Committee for the reason stated in Section 108 shall be considered as rejected by the council. Any person rejected by ballot shall not be again eligible to apply for membership in any council until after the expiration of six months from the date of such rejection. No person after rejection for insurance membership shall be proposed for insurance membership in any council for the period of one year after such rejection.
