Congratulations on making it through the 40 days of preparation for today’s consecration!
Before you begin
- If possible, go to Mass today and offer the prayers below at the end.
- Likewise, try to “visit” Our Lady of Guadalupe today, whether at a shrine, a statue at a church or simply an image in your home. Allow yourself to rest in her maternal gaze and embrace her as a son.
Prayer of Restoration to Our Lady of Guadalupe
Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mother of God and Mother of us, draw us close to your heart. You are “truly the ever perfect Holy Virgin Mary, who has the honor to be the Mother of the one true God for whom we all live, the Creator of people, the Lord of all around us and of what is close to us, the Lord of Heaven, the Lord of Earth.” You are the compassionate and most tender mother of all the sons and daughters of the Father who live in this valley of tears. We trust that you love us and hear the cries of our sadness. Your motherly presence is a medicine, a remedy, and a great comfort in our brokenness.
We ask you now, Our Lady of Guadalupe, look upon us with your compassionate gaze. United to Jesus and St. Juan Diego, we choose you to be our mother and our queen. We ask you to come and restore our sonship. After the heart of Jesus, we long to be ‘sons in the Son.’ We surrender to you our minds. Restore them to be like the mind of Jesus. We surrender to you our hearts. Restore them to be like the heart of Jesus. We surrender to you our bodies. Restore them to be like the body of Jesus. We surrender to you our masculinity. Restore it to be formed by the masculinity of Jesus. We surrender to our prayer life. Restore it to be always united to Jesus in prayer.
Our Lady of Guadalupe, you are here, who are our mother! We are under your shadow and protection. You are the source of our joy. We are in the hollow of your mantle and in the crossing of your arms. On this day, we proclaim that we need nothing more!
Amen.
Prayer of Consecration and Fidelity to Jesus Christ, Through His Mother, Our Lady of Guadalupe
Oh Immaculate Virgin, Our Lady of Guadalupe, our Mother, Mother of the Church, Mother of the true God through whom we have life! You who demonstrate your clemency and your compassion to all those who request your protection, listen to the prayer that I address to you with filial trust and present them to your Son Jesus Christ, our only Redeemer whom you bear in your Immaculate womb.
Mother of mercy, teacher of the hidden and silent sacrifice, to you, who comes out to meet me, despite being a sinner, today I consecrate myself to your Son through you; I consecrate my vocation and all my love; I consecrate my entire life, my family, my work, my illnesses, my failures and my successes, my pains and my joys.
Please sow peace, justice and prosperity within me and all those around me. All that I am and everything I have I place under your protection, my Lady and Mother. I want to belong totally to your beloved Son and walk with you the path to complete happiness that can only be found in Jesus Christ, within his Church: do not let me go from your loving hand.
Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mother of The Americas, I pray to you for all our Bishops, priests and deacons, that they may guide us and lead us along the way to a more profound love, a deeper Christian life and a more humble service to God and our neighbor. Behold, this immense harvest before you and intercede so that the Lord instills a hunger for holiness in my heart, in all the People of God, that he grants abundant vocations of priests and religious life, strong in faith, and zealous dispensers of the mysteries of God. Also, in a very special way, I ask you for my vocation.
Today, I consecrate myself totally to Jesus Christ through you, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mother of God and our Mother.
Thus, Most Holy Mother, with the peace of God in our conscience, with our hearts full of Him thanks to you, we will be able to lead everyone to true joy and true peace, which come from your Son Jesus Christ, who with God the Father and with The Holy Spirit lives and reigns forever and ever.
Amen.
