Blessed Michael McGivney founded the Knights of Columbus to assist families impacted by an unexpected death. Our Member/Spouse Accidental Death Benefit is an enduring part of that vision.

This benefit is given to all members and their spouses in the U.S. and Canada at no cost.** Depending on your age, length of membership and whether you have a policy with the Knights, your Accidental Death Benefit starts at $1,500 and can be as much as $5,000.

Family Fraternal and Orphan Benefits

Here for the Whole Family

In times of families’ deepest suffering, we can help relieve financial burdens.

Our Family Fraternal Benefit offers a death benefit after a miscarriage, stillbirth or newborn death. We also offer guaranteed-issue life insurance coverage of members’ children under the age of 18, regardless of pre-existing medical conditions.

Continuing Blessed Michael McGivney’s legacy as “Defender of the Widow and Orphan,” our Orphan Benefit includes monthly payments of $500 for members’ orphaned children. In addition, this benefit provides $5,000 a year in college scholarships (up to $20,000).

Investing in Education

The Knights of Columbus has given more than $1.5 million in college, university, graduate school and seminary scholarships. Almost all of these scholarships are exclusive to children of members.
