Faith in Action programs give Catholic men the opportunity to make a difference by serving their parish communities and leading their families. Using these program resources as a guide, councils can ensure their members and men of their parish are living their call to serve others and share their faith.
Programs
Knights of Columbus Faith in Action Program leads men to make a meaningful difference in faith, life, family & community through supreme council programs.
Member engagement begins with communication. A member that doesn’t know what’s going on is going to have a hard time attending programs and events and participating in the work of the council. It’s important to remember that there are many ways to communicate – phone, email, social media, text, and your parish’s bulletin and website (with Father’s permission, of course). Member Management and Member Billing both contain two important capabilities: a Data Extract Tool that allows you to download member fields into an excel file, and an Email Tool that allows you to build emails tailored to specific lists.
One of the best ways to engage council members is to ask their opinion. Good councils regularly ask their members for feedback on council programs, events and initiatives. This is also a good way to ask for new ideas and to find out if a member might want to get more involved.
When a member moves, it’s important that his contact information is updated so that he continues to receive Columbia magazine and other important communications. Council leaders can update this on Member Management or the member can update his own information online.

Councils and Assemblies should adopt resolutions of condolence for the families of deceased knights. These resolutions should be entered into the formal records of the council and delivered to the families upon the death of a member.
Promote and support the development of strong and vibrant families. Each council establishes a committee to recognize a deserving Family of the Month and Family of the Year with potential for recognition on the international level.
Another great way to engage members is to recognize life events and milestones. For example, sending a card or email wishing a member “Happy Birthday” or “Happy Anniversary” (for his membership anniversary) is a great engagement strategy. You can similarly recognize the other life events of a member such as graduation, wedding, birth of a child or retirement. You can also recognize the sacramental milestones of a member’s children such a Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation or Marriage.
