Knights from Woonsocket (Rhode Island) Council 113 joined local police officers and other community volunteers to host a toy drive during the Thanksgiving weekend, collecting more than 2,500 toys for children in need. This is the 14th year that the council partnered with the Woonsocket Police Department to hold the Ron Auger Toy Drive, which was started by the Auger family to honor their son, a police dispatcher who died in 2009.
A memorial honoring Kendrick Castillo — the 18-year-old who died protecting his classmates during a 2019 shooting at the STEM School Highlands Ranch — was unveiled last month near his hometown in Colorado. Castillo, who had planned to join the Knights of Columbus after graduating high school, was welcomed posthumously as a Knight in 2019, one of only a handful of people to receive that honor.
